2/13/2026: *THIS WEEKEND* Help Save Bay Area Transit
BART just released dire new information about the cuts they'll have to make if they can’t secure funding this year, and it’s scary. This could mean 70% fewer trains, closing 15 stations, and ending service at 9pm by July 2027.
We can prevent these dire cuts by collecting signatures across 5 counties to get the Connect Bay Area Transit initiative on the ballot. But saving Bay Area transit will not be possible without an all hands on deck effort. Check out the entire list of events coming up that are currently scheduled for the next two weeks (more to come), and see which ones work for you to join. We're excited to see you out in the community!
Thanks to everyone who is already out gathering signatures!
Read on to learn about other upcoming events, like our Moneyball for Transit: Planning a rider-friendly, well-connected, cost-effective transit network event where we'll learn how we can create a connected transit network with faster and more reliable service, and get projects that improve transit done quicker and at lower costs.

Moneyball for Transit: Planning a rider-friendly, well-connected, cost-effective transit network (Oakland and Online) | March 2nd @ 6:00pm
How do we make transit faster and more reliable for riders, even when budgets are tight? How do we make it so projects to improve transit can get done more quickly, and at lower costs? How do we make it so taking transit is competitive with driving? And how do we do that given that the Bay has over 101 cities and counties served by 27 transit agencies?
Tune in to learn from experts about how we can make progress on all these goals at once with a proven approach: "Service-led planning." We'll learn what steps the Bay Area has already taken towards more coordinated service and what is needed to create this fast, convenient, and integrated transit network.
If you want to learn how reforms to governance, funding, and infrastructure projects can deliver better transit service…

Tell California Senators Padilla & Schiff to fund transit through the Moving Transit Forward Act
Public transit has never gotten the support it deserves from the Federal government meaning our bus and train service is not as frequent, extensive, reliable, accessible and affordable as it should be. East Coast Senators have stepped up to introduce the Moving Transit Forward Act which would provide billions in annual funding for transit, but California Senators Padilla and Schiff haven't signed on yet.
Write to Senators Padilla and Schiff TODAY urging them to co-sponsor the Moving Transit Forward Act so Californians can get more frequent, reliable, affordable, accessible transit!

BART outlines severe service cuts if Connect Bay Area transit ballot measure fails
If the regional transit funding measure does not pass, BART is looking at severe cuts beginning in 2027, including reducing service by more than 60%, closing 10+ stations, ending service at 9pm, and eliminating entire lines. Help pass the Connect Bay Area transit initiative to prevent cuts.
$590M loan secured to help stave off one year of Bay Area transit service cuts.
Advocates fought throughout all of 2025 to make this victory possible. This loan will keep transit running in the immediate short-term, but to save transit service and ensure stable finances will require passing both a regional and a San Francisco transit funding measure in 2026.
Service-Led Planning: A key to rider-friendly, cost-effective transit

The Bay Area has taken initial steps toward these best practices; the blog post covers what’s been done so far and riders can speak up in 2026 to make more progress toward rolling out rider-friendly, cost-effective improvements more quickly.
The Long Road to Free Transfers ✅
As of December 10th, 2025 Bay Area transit riders no longer need to pay extra when they transfer between two or more agencies. This is a big moment worth celebrating! Getting to this moment took nearly a decade of advocacy. In this post, we’ve compiled a summary of the years’ long battle that led to this victory - but also some remaining issues that still aren’t resolved, and where rider advocacy will be needed to make this long-awaited improvement permanent and as impactful as possible.
