1/20/2026: THIS FRIDAY: Save Transit Kick-off Event!
Unless we pass a regional ballot measure, painful service cuts will permanently and irreversibly damage Bay Area public transit.
BART and Caltrain would be forced to eliminate weekend service, stop weekday service after 9pm, and run trains only once per hour.
Muni would be forced to cut 50% of all bus and Metro service, including eliminating entire neighborhood routes
AC Transit would be forced to cut 37% of service, bringing service down to just half of pre-pandemic levels.
But we can solve this problem together. Come to the kick-off rallies for the Connect Bay Area ballot initiative this Friday, January 23rd, with events in San Francisco, Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Redwood City, and San Jose.
When we collect 200,000 petition signatures to get the Connect Bay Area initiative on the ballot (and then pass it this November!) the transit network we rely on will finally have the stable source of funding needed to move beyond its current state of perpetual crisis.
Then we can confidently continue the work of building the world-class system that we deserve and have been fighting for – with seamless, fast, convenient, reliable, and affordable transit that makes it easy to get around our region.
Not able to make it on 1/23 and want to help save transit? Come flyer at an upcoming event or put up posters in your community at a time that works for you. You can download the files for posters and flyers here.
In addition to the enormous efforts at the regional level, take action at the state- and federal-level to bolster our transit systems.

Petition: Tell California Senators Padilla & Schiff to fund transit through the Moving Transit Forward Act
Public transit has never gotten the support it deserves from the Federal government meaning our bus and train service is not as frequent, extensive, reliable, accessible and affordable as it should be. East Coast Senators have stepped up to introduce the Moving Transit Forward Act which would provide billions in annual funding for transit, but California Senators Padilla and Schiff haven't signed on yet.
Write to Senators Padilla and Schiff TODAY urging them to co-sponsor the Moving Transit Forward Act so Californians can get more frequent, reliable, affordable, accessible transit!
If you are able to, please consider donating to help support the movement for a world-class Bay Area transit network.
Also, you can help build the movement by sharing one of our newsletters, blog posts, events, or social media pages with one other person. Thank you!
