A Transit Recovery Vision for the Bay Area

In response to the unprecedented impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on public transportation ridership and operations, Seamless Bay Area collaborated with AECOM to envision how transit services could adapt. The team developed a vision of how services could be integrated in the near term to establish a connected, reliable, and equitable network with the same resources available today; then, using AECOM’s modeling tools, they developed scenarios and forecasted the potential impacts of the length of the coronavirus crisis and mode shifts through an equity lens.

One of the project’s goals is to build the support for near-, medium-, and long-term funding and policy reforms to be considered by MTC’s Blue Ribbon Transit Recovery Task Force and other groups that support a transformation and rebuilding of the region’s transit system.
