2026 is shaping up to be the most important year for transit in the Bay Area in recent memory. The Regional Transit Measure is officially on the November ballot, the SMART tax passed in June, and we are fighting to continue funding for transit at the state-level.
Now, we are preparing for the next phase of the Regional Transit Measure – and need your help. Come party with us in Pleasant Hill, Palo Alto, and San Francisco while helping Seamless Bay Area & Transbay Coalition get the resources we need to sustain and scale up our organizing to pass the measure and continue progress toward seamless transit!

Palo Alto fundraiser: Wed, July 22nd from 5:30-7:30PM
San Francisco fundraiser: Sat, August 1st from 3:00-5:00PM
Tickets are required for each of these events and space is limited, so be sure to RSVP soon and reserve your spot.

AB 1599: Seamless Interagency Stop Data - the California Transit Stop Registry
A good bill to standardize bus stop data, making transit more convenient for riders and enabling smarter planning is in the State Legislature. AB1599 (Ahrens) would implement one of the recommendations of the State Transit Transformation Task Force to make transit more seamless across the state.
Starting on August 15, all 35,000 SJSU students will receive BayPass, the all-agency transit pass. And this May, employees at Caltrain, SamTrans, and SMCTA have been offered BayPass after moving to the agencies’ new headquarters at the Millbrae transit center.
The Newsom Administration executive order on transit and rail would be a good start toward accelerating and coordinating improvements to rail and transit in the state – if the Newsom Administration wasn’t at the same time proposing to slash critical state fund programs for rail, transit, and affordable housing near transit.
Reloadable open payment cards for Monterey/Salinas; SFMTA joins RFP with parking in mind
In June, Monterey Salinas Transit purchased a system for reloadable open payment cards that can be used by low-income riders who are unbanked or underbanked. Of interest in the Bay Area, SFMTA participated in the RFP for the reloadable open payment cards. SFMTA’s initial focus is to use the cards specifically for parking, to provide payment options for individuals who are unbanked at parking meters and garages.
Please consider supporting our work by making a donation. Whether you can give $10, $25, $100, or $500, any amount helps sustain our advocacy and organizing. We've extended the fundraiser till July 31th!
We partnered with local Bay Area artist, Bionyo Illustrations, to design a new The Bay Moves Together series with stickers, art prints, and t-shirts as a thank you for donors!
If you want to double your impact, consider making a donation through employer matching. Some companies in the Bay Area that match employee donations include Apple, Adobe, Autodesk, Google, NVIDIA, LinkedIn, Kaiser Permanente, and many more!
