5/5/2026: What do the candidates vying for your vote say about transportation? 🤔

Elected officials at every level of government in the Bay Area can play a vital role in making it easier, safer, and greener for more people to get into and around our communities. Our mobility and the barriers we face in that process affect nearly every aspect of our lives, such as housing, healthcare, economic development, safety, education, and more.

Over 80 candidates responded to this questionnaire about transit, traffic violence, and bike/pedestrian infrastructure. This includes candidates for the US House of Representatives, State Assembly, State Senate, County Supervisor, and City Council, Mayoral positions in all 9-Bay Area Counties.

💥Action Alert: Speak up for better transit in the South Bay and Peninsula 💥

If the Connect Bay Area transit measure gets on the ballot and passes in this November election, Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties are set to get large new investments in public transit, $264 million and $50 million per year, respectively.

This could mean a lot more VTA and SamTrans service, bringing service levels up to par with other parts of the Bay Area and funding transit priority upgrades that make buses faster and more reliable.

Please speak up at upcoming VTA and SamTrans board meetings to ensure funding goes towards rider-friendly improvements including: more service, funding transit priority projects to make buses faster and more reliable, and focus on improving transfers.

Speak Out! California regulators want to give billions to big polluters and cut transit and affordable housing funding

Billions of dollars in funding for affordable housing and public transit is being threatened by the California Air Resources Board (CARB)'s proposed changes to give billions of dollars in polluting credits for free to some of the world’s largest corporations.

This proposal is in response to massive lobbying efforts by fossil fuel interests. Some of the most profitable companies in the world want to benefit by weakening one of the most successful emissions caps in the world.

The proposed amendments reflect a major departure from California’s path to achieve its 2030 climate targets.

It jeopardizes billions of dollars in funding for building out affordable transit-oriented housing and major public transit projects, deployment of zero-emission vehicles, transit services, fare-free and discounted transit passes, and community air quality initiatives that make California more affordable by lowering rents and transportation costs.

This new plan can still be stopped. CARB will make a decision on whether or not to move forward at the end of May. They need to hear from us today.
