Where do candidates vying for your vote stand on transportation issues?
Elected officials at every level of government in the Bay Area can play a vital role in making it easier, safer, and greener for more people to get in and around our communities. How we get around and the barriers we face in that process affect nearly every aspect of our lives like housing, healthcare, economic development, safety, education, and much more. The “Sustainable Transportation Questionnaire” was sent to candidates running for US House of Representatives, State Assembly, State Senate, County Supervisor, City Council, Mayor, and AC Transit and BART Board of Director positions in all Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma Counties in order to help educate people voting in the November 2026 General Election.

The 2026 “Sustainable Transportation Questionnaire” for the November General Election project was co-sponsored by a coalition of 28 organizations throughout the region: Seamless Bay Area, Transbay Coalition, Bike East Bay, Bike Hayward, BikeWalk Castro Valley, Community Resources for Independent Living, East Bay for Everyone, East Bay Transit Riders Union, El Cerrito/Richmond Annex Walk & Roll, Fremont for Everyone, Friends of Caltrain, Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County, Move California, Move San Mateo, North Bay Transit Riders, Palo Alto Forward, San Antonio Station Alliance, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, San Francisco Transit Riders, Santa Clara County for Transit, Senior and Disability Action, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, Sustainable Marin, Traffic Violence Rapid Response, Transform, Walk Bike Berkeley, Walk Bike Walnut Creek, and Walk Oakland Bike Oakland.
*All candidates running for a town/city council, Mayor, County Supervisor, State Assembly, State Senate, House of Representative, and AC Transit and BART Board of Director position in the Nine-County Bay Area were approached with the opportunity to complete the questionnaire and given time to do so. Candidates who did not respond could not be reached or declined to complete the questionnaire have not been included.
